Come and join in - There is something for everyone

Not only is singing an enjoyable thing to do, but it’s also a great way to make new friends and have a whole lot of new experiences.

The SCAS choirs and vocal ensembles get to perform all over the Hastings, put on great concerts (including our annual Vocal Lounge) and take part in workshops with some of the best choral people in the country.

We are an essential part of the school’s life, performing at opening ceremonies, chapels, graduations and presentation ceremonies as well as events such as grandparents’ day.

Almost one third of the students at SCAS sing – so if you’re missing out come along and see what is happening.

The Big Choirs - No auditions

Infant choir – Years k-2

Lead by Mrs Broadley. Rehearsals Wednesday afternoons 3.30pm to 4.00pm in Music Room

Junior choir – Years 3-5

Lead by Mrs Broadley. Rehearsals Thursday mornings 8am in the Music Room.

Senior choir – Years 6-12

The Senior Choir is a well disciplined choral group dedicated to representing the school chorally. Members of this group perform various styles of vocal music, gain an understanding of vocal techniques and develop confidence in their singing.

Lead by Mrs van Gend. Rehearsals Tuesday mornings 8am in the Chapel.

If you are super keen there are the special ensembles. You have to audition but its worth it!

Iintombazaan – Middle school girls

Iintombazaan - The SCAS Vocal Ensembles Iintombi Zicula and Iintombazaan are auditioned female groups that perform both sacred and secular music. Members must belong to the Senior Choir.

Low Rumbles – Senior boys

Low rumbles - Now in its second year Low Rumbles (Senior Boys). It is open to any senior male student, without audition.

Lead by Mrs van Gend. Rehearsals Thursday long break.

Iintomi Zicula – Senior girls

Iintomi Zicula – The SCAS Vocal Ensembles Iintombi Zicula and Iintombazaan are auditioned female groups that perform both sacred and secular music. Members must belong to the Senior Choir.

Lead by Mrs van Gend. Rehearsals Wednesday long break and Thursday 8am.

And then there is one for the mums, dads, teachers and members of our community Iikhwaya Khukulu - The adult choir.
