Australian College of Educators Honours SCAS Teachers
Australian College of Educators
To celebrate World Teachers Day in the Mid North Coast Region, the Australian College of Educators invited nominations from schools to acknowledge the exceptional efforts of their teachers. World Teachers Day was inaugurated by UNESCO more than forty years ago to celebrate and acknowledge members of the teaching profession throughout the world.
Three teachers from St Columba Anglican School received framed certificates and the citations submitted by the Principal and Executive were read to the 80 teachers who attended the Awards Ceremony at the Little Fish Café at Innes Lake Vineyard. Teachers from 17 other schools were also honoured.
The occasion was a wonderful way for our teachers to meet and network with teachers from other sectors of the profession in a relaxed atmosphere.
Mr Peter Coe, Life Coach and Mentor, presented the citations and then spoke about the need to keep our brains healthy, active and stimulated so that we achieve the very best we are able to. He also gave examples that were pertinent and helpful to the teachers present.
The Australian College of Educators is a national professional organisation that works to achieve a prominent public profile for teachers. Teachers who are members of ACE may use the letters MACE after their name.
Ann-Kathrin Kiehn, Debra Templeton and Mark Brown received awards and we congratulate them warmly.

Gondwanna Voices
Five of our students auditioned for and have been accepted into one of Australia’s most prestigious choirs. Gondwanna Voices is based in Sydney and children from all over Australia go through a rigorous audition to apply for membership. Alex Siegers Year 11 has been selected for the Gondwanna Chorale which is for students over 15 years old. Olivia Peck and Jack Begbie have been selected for the elite ensemble – Gondwanna Voices (which Alex has been a member of for several years). Nikkita Alexander and Stella Hannock applied for the first time this year and were selected for the Gondwanna Singers and Gondwanna Juniors respectively. This is a remarkable achievement and all these students deserve our congratulations. They will spend several weeks in Sydney over the Christmas Holidays learning repertoire and participate in performances around Australia through 2010.
