As this carnival serves as a selection trial for the SCAS swimming team for the HRIS Secondary Swimming Championships, a disqualification process will be implemented on the day where, at the discretion of SCAS staff, any swimmer who is determined to have gained an unfair advantage will be disqualified. A warning will be provided for minor indiscretions which do not impact the result of the race.

The HRIS Secondary Swimming Championships will take place on Friday, 6 March, 2026 at The Forum, University of Newcastle.

What to wear/bring

For their protection and safety please ensure your student is wearing the following items on the day:

  • Students must wear their full SCAS school sport uniform to and from the carnival;
  • Year 12 students only may wear House colour costume/dress which follows the school mufti clothing guidelines (noting that thongs are permitted to wear on this day). Appropriate swimming attire must be worn to compete in races;
  • A broad-brimmed SCAS hat (or sports cap);
  • Students should also bring a supply of sun cream for application as required throughout the day and sunglasses;
  • Suitable (and appropriate) swimming costume: Girls – a one-piece swimming costume or racing costume (no bikinis or two-piece suits); Boys – racing swimmers, jammers or boardies. For sun protection, students will be required to wear appropriate clothing and remain in a shaded area where possible when they are not competing. Sun shirts are recommended.

The pool canteen will be selling hot food and snacks throughout the day. Otherwise, students should bring food and have a good supply of water (not in glass please) for the day.

What not to bring

Please do not bring cameras, mobile phones, MP3 players, electronic games, CD players, or any other items of value. Students are responsible for all of their belongings on the day. Streamers and crepe paper are not permitted.
