St Columba offers Dance as part of its broader co-curricular program. The diverse range of Dance classes, which are held before and after School, aim to complement the study of dance in the curriculum and include:

Dance Touring Groups
An intensive program aimed at the extension and enrichment of our gifted and talented dancers. It aims to present elite routines of a very high standard in a variety of styles (including Contemporary, Musical Theatre, Lyrical and Jazz). These groups perform to a range of audiences including competitions, concerts and showcases, both locally and abroad. Students must be involved in ongoing, regular external tuition and/or Elective Dance study at school and selection is by audition.

Co-Curricular Dance Group
This is dance group is open to any Secondary student interested in furthering their technique and stage experience. It caters for students entering the Secondary School dance program for the first time as a bridge from Primary School dance and is suitable for students aspiring to develop and refine new skills that will perhaps lead them into other groups in the future.  Students in the Co-Curricular group are given opportunities to perform at the Glasshouse Showcase concert, “Contempo” and Port Macquarie Dance Eisteddfod.

Classical Ballet Ensemble
The Classical Ballet Ensemble runs in Semester 1 with a performance opportunity at the Glasshouse Showcase concert, “Contempo”. Students learn classical ballet technique and artistry as well as pas de deux and corps de ballet repertoire. This group is open to all students from Years 7-12 wishing to develop and refine their classical ballet technique.

Primary Dance Ensembles
There are four Primary Dance Ensembles: Kindergarten Dance, Infants Dance Group (Years 1 and 2), Stage 2 Dance Group (Years 3 and 4) and Stage 3 Dance Group (Years 5 and 6). These groups are open to all Primary students in a completely inclusive dance environment. The Kindergarten Dance Group perform at the annual Dance Showcase each year, and the Infants and Primary Dance Groups perform at the Showcase and the Port Macquarie Eisteddfod.

The School’s Dance ensembles provide students with the opportunity to perform and train together to create spectacular performance pieces. A Showcase Concert is held each year in Term II. The School also enters the Port Macquarie Dance Eisteddfod and Sydney Eisteddfod competitions each year.
